Rockfort

After COVID entered our lives,

Every day feels long…

Everything seems surreal…

Thoughts linger on when all of this will end,

What will the world be like after this…

Will we all survive…

In these difficult times, when weakness and fear take over my mind, there is this little hill near my home that brings in joy and hope,

Rockfort.

A small hill at the center of Trichy stands tall, magnificent, and strong for millions of years. There is a fort and a temple built on top of it. …

The beat of the engine, the sound of the wind, the sense of the road, the length of the journey, the high while raising the accelerator, the serenity while driving at 30…

At times a drive is all the soul needs.

Sometimes driving is crazy. Sometimes it’s like meditation. The drives when the sound of the engine and wind fill the ears, the mind is just on the road. Every bit in the present. Not in the past. Not in the future. Just at the moment. They are the moments when truly nothing else matters. The world freezes. …

Dear whoever reading this,
I want you to know this.

Sexual assault is real and has happened to every single woman you know.

Sexual assault stories are not new to me or to any woman for that matter. I’m glad #MeToo is happening in India and people are stepping forward.

With power, money and fame, culprits manage to somehow get away; that’s the hard reality of today’s world and sexual harassment is no exception.

#MeToo surfaces only a very few horrible stories. There are 100s of horrible stories hidden underneath every household. …

Visiting hospitals when sick is a challenge in itself. Booking an appointment, travelling to the hospital, the waiting hours, communicating the problems faced and coming back home with medicines can easily take a day. It is much more challenging when the patient is really old. Undergoing the above process itself can make them weaker, both physically and mentally.

Here, I will share my experiences of taking old people to hospitals. A few things I wish the doctors I met were aware of and about how some doctors helped me.

I have been taking old people in my family to a…

Some times I wonder why people change companies. I found that some people always want to keep changing and that’s their way of life. Some quit for personal reasons like change in city of living, health constraints, etc. For the rest, companies contribute the most to make their employees quit.

These are the reasons I think that contribute the most.

Poor leadership and management

A bad relationship with manager and uninspiring leaders can make any employee, even the “star” ones quit. When the leaders are not passionate, incapable of taking decisions and unable to guide the team, it spoils the…

I was never a fan of nose studs but a few months ago my friend and I decided to pierce our noses. We went to a professional and modern Tattoo and Body piercing centre in Chennai. There we were given a small set of nose studs to choose from. We chose one and got the piercing done using a piercing gun. We paid close to 700 each for this service. We were back home happy and it was all good for me. (It was all bad for my friend and calls for a different story).

Recently I wanted to replace…

A dark skinned person, especially a girl easily becomes a victim of lot of stereotypes and prejudices around skin colour and beauty right from childhood. Everyday one has to face three kinds of people in today’s society. First, the set of people who believe being dark is ugly (or even sin)/being light skinned is beautiful consciously; the next, those who believe the same unconsciously and the last, those who have realised beauty and colour are not related and everyone is beautiful. All of these people have a lot of impact on how dark skinned people think of themselves.

My experiences because of my skin color (brown):

I was…

Few days ago I was dining at a small road side restaurant. While I was there a family arrived; a 5 year old girl and her parents. She was naughty and was in her own world blowing bubbles. Soon her bubbles were all over the street; so was the sound of her laughter. Her parents warned her to not blow bubbles since people were eating. The girl thought for a while and asked whether she could go a little away and blow bubbles so that no one felt disturbed. Conversation kept going and finally her parents had to agree to…

Two years ago, when I was just out of college, I thought a Product Developer is someone who codes. This thought slowly started changing since when I joined work. One day at work was enough to make me realise that there is so much to learn and this job involves continuous learning and development. First of all, that is the most exciting part of being a developer. There are new things coming up everyday and there is no end for learning. One can grow upto the extent he/she wants to.

I still remember the first ever code change that I…

I have been feeding biscuits to two dogs in front of my home for almost an year. I’m extremely scared of being close to animals, especially dogs. But then I somehow managed to feed them being at a distance for the past one year. I have never tried conversing or playing with them. I just feed and leave.

Recently a new dog happened to join the gang. She has a belt around her neck, looks chubby, giving an impression to be an abandoned pet dog. As she always stayed in front of my home, I started feeding her also.

Last…
